5 Premier League fixtures to watch over the festive period

The Premier League's frantic festive fixture list is fast upon us, with players bracing themselves for a number of crunch matches over a busy spell, while most fans get the chance to enjoy the action with a break from work

Without further ado, here's our list of the top 5 Premier League fixtures to watch over the festive period:

Liverpool vs. Manchester United (Sunday 16th December, KO 4PM)

Not that a clash between English football's two most successful clubs need to be sold, but this Sunday's mouth-watering encounter at Anfield has the makings of a particularly enthralling battle between these two bitter rivals.

Klopp's Liverpool top the table and remain the only unbeaten side in the league, while United's are enjoying quite the contrast in fortunes, languishing in 6th and adrift from the Champions League spots. If Liverpool were to win here, it would open up a 19 point gap between the sides and possibly end United's chances of finishing in the top four.

Liverpool are odds-on favourites to do so, but at a best-priced 11/2 across Premier League free bet sites like Ladbrokes, United are attractive outsiders to make a dent in their enemy's title hopes. You wouldn't put it past Mourinho to do so.

Huddersfield Town vs. Southampton (Saturday 22nd December, KO 3PM)

At the other end of the table it's already getting tough for a handful of sides who will all be desperate for points from Santa going into the New Year.

And there are a number of relegation six-pointers over the festive spell. We could just as easily have singled out Fulham's clash with Huddersfield on the 29th, but before that the Terriers play host to Southampton on the 22nd. With both sides currently in the relegation zone, the bookies are finding it difficult to choose between the two with Huddersfield priced at 6/4 with Ladbrokes to win, whilst The Saints are 7/4 with the same bookie.

Everton vs. Tottenham Hotspur (Sunday 23rd December, KO 4PM)

The last match before Christmas is the sole fixture on Sunday the 23rd, as Everton welcome in-form Tottenham to Goodison.

The Toffees have been keeping pace with the top six so far but Pochettino’s Spurs are looking to keep pace with Liverpool and Manchester City in the title race. Odds as far as 3/1 for a draw with Betfred look tempting.

Liverpool vs Arsenal (Saturday 29th December, KO 5.30PM)

Liverpool have perhaps the toughest run-in over Christmas and less than a fortnight after battling United, they'll also host Arsenal on the 29th.
Liverpool vs Arsenal has traditionally always been a high-scoring affair and with the attacking line-up that both sides can currently field, bet on that to continue in a real Christmas cracker.

Manchester City vs Liverpool (Thursday 3rd January, KO 8PM)

Perhaps the biggest fixture that likes just around the corner is another tough date for Liverpool however, though this one comes after New Year's Day.

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City welcome the Reds to the Etihad on January 3rd in what could prove to be a pivotal moment in this season's title race.

We're hoping that you won't need to be at work until the following Monday, so even though it's a Thursday night there's no excuses for missing this!
