Victory for people power in Ernesettle

The application for a controversial and much opposed biomass energy facility in Ernesettle has been withdrawn by the applicant today.

Following requests for help and submissions from Alison Seabeck, MP for Plymouth Moor View, and Councillor Mark Lowry, the Plymouth planning department was inundated with evidence and letters from local residents opposing the proposal.

Alison Seabeck MP said: “This is a real victory for people power. We campaigned against this plant for a whole range of reasons and I am personally delighted that the applicant has taken a decision to withdraw. This should be the end of the story as the application will now not have to go to the planning committee.”

“I am sure there will be a lot of relief in the local community. I would really like to thank everybody who responded to our call for evidence, because this may not have happened without it.”
