Sir Walter Raleigh visits The Donkey Sanctuary

W. Bro. Brian Elms the master of Sir Walter Raleigh Masonic Lodge who meet at the Masonic Hall in Oreston, Plymouth selected the Donkey Sanctuary as his charity of the year and after many raffles and drawers he raised the magnificent sum of £750.

On a sunny day, just before this cold weather set in, Brian visited the Donkey Sanctuary at Ivybridge which opened in 2007, this sanctuary runs in parallel to their HQ at Sidmouth where he presented them with the £750 they had all worked so hard to achieve.  While Brian was there he met up with Bob Venn the Senior Centre Manager, Jacqueline Kilvington Their Equine Co-ordinator, Florrie a work experience student who was on placement from Sidmouth and most importantly Jay Jay and Innis two of the donkeys currently being cared for by the sanctuary.

When Presenting the cheque Brian said that the freemasons were delighted to be able to support the important work undertaken by the staff at the Donkey Sanctuary and that although we are well known for our support of those needing help throughout Devon we don’t just draw the line at people.

Bob Venn thanked Brian for his generous donation promising that it would be used to continue their support of the donkeys in need of their care.
