Pentillie Revs Up for Defender Day

There's a host of exciting and interesting activities planned for Defender Day at Pentillie Castle this year.

New for 2019 is a unique Toylander Course, which will feature built to scale mini versions of Defenders, battling it out across a shrunken course.

There will also be talks from Land Rover adventurers, including Gary Parkinson and Julia Hobday, and Mike Andrews. Mike was part of the famous trip in a Series 2 from The Beagle Channel (Cape Horn) to Fairbanks Alaska in 1960/61, which Mike finished with the very same vehicle and two companions in August 2015 - driving the last 500 miles from Fairbanks to Endicott Island in the Beaufort Sea (Arctic Ocean). For ‘Landy Fans’ there will be plenty of models and specials on display from the early Series 1 to the latest Defender, all the models and specials in between and other unique Land Rovers, there will be plenty on show to see and experience at the ‘Defender Day‘.

The line-up will also include: The Ultimate Land Rover Display, a 4×4 Off Road Course through the woods of the Pentillie Estate. For guests who would like to take part in the 4x4 off road course, but do not have a vehicle, Cornwall and Devon Land Rover Club will be offering rides for £5 per person.

Delicious food offerings including a hog roast, venison burgers, pasties, pizzas and crepes, and a bar, sponsored by Skinners, will be available for guests. There will also be fun activities for all of the family including children’s entertainment area and bouncy castle, laser clay shooting, air rifle shooting, archery, local motor and country related trade stands, plus free entry to Pentillie’s woodland gardens.

Sponsors also include Bearmach, who are sponsoring the Ultimate Land Rover Display and are donating prizes for the ‘Best in Show’ and ‘Reserve’.

Devon and Cornwall 4x4 Response have been selected as the charity for the event (donations taken at the activities and stand, they will also be marshalling the car park and off road course).

Entry to Defender Day is £20 per vehicle in advance (plus booking fee), available online only. Or £30 per vehicle on the day (£20 if driver only).
